II International Altaistic Forum

On September, 30 – October, 3 in the cities of Barnaul and Gorno-Altaysk, on the basis of Altai and Gorno-Altaysk State Universities, the II International Altaistic Forum "Turkic-Mongolian World of the Greater Altai: Historical and Cultural Heritage and Modernity" was held, organized by the Institute of Archeology and Ethnography SB RAS, Kazan (Privolzhsky) Federal University, Kyrgyz National University named after Jusup Balasagyn, and Association of Asian Universities.

The forum was supported by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation, the Government of the Altai Krai, the Federal Agency for the Commonwealth of Independent States, compatriots living abroad and international humanitarian cooperation (https://altai2021.asu.ru).

The plenary session considered historical and civilizational aspects and modern processes in the Turkic-Mongolian world of Greater Altai. The presentation of the virtual museum "Greater Altai - the ancestral homeland of the Turks" and the results of the first international ethnographic expedition " Greater Altai: Russia - Kyrgyzstan - 2021" was held. There was a media dialogue of universities in the format of an online conference.

 After the plenary session, work continued in sections: "Historical and archaeological studies of the processes of formation and evolution of the community of Turkic peoples of Greater Altai"; "Religious processes in the Turkic-Mongolian world. Ethnographic and ethnoculturological studies of the community of the Turkic peoples of Greater Altai"; "Epic traditions of the peoples of Greater Altai: in search of new approaches to the study of cultural relationships"; "Languages ​ ​of the peoples of Greater Altai and Central Asia"; "Literature and folklore of the peoples of Greater Altai and Central Asia"; "Cultural heritage of the Greater Altai"; "Ethnopolitical and ethnosocial processes in the Eurasian space in modern times"; "Political and legal systems in the Turkic world of Greater Altai"; "Network educational projects of universities of the Greater Altai countries"; "Sustainable development of the regions of Greater Altai. Spatial analysis and modelling of environmental and socio-economic processes"; "Media space of science and education of Greater Altai and Central Asia". As part of the forum, the youth scientific forum "Russia and the Turkic World: the View of the Youth of the Greater Altai Countries" was held.

In total, the forum brought together scientists from Russia, Mongolia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Hungary, Germany, Finland, Turkey and Turkmenistan. Scientists from Kazakhstan took part in the work of the section "Historical and archaeological research": Bogenbaev N.E. "Altai region in the Turkic era: historical and cultural values" (International Turkic Academy, Nur-Sultan), D.A. Jumabekov "Study of historical and cultural monuments of Ulytau" (Karaganda University named after academician E.A. Buketov), Merz I.V., Merz V.K. - "New settlement materials of the early Middle Ages from Pavlodar Irtysh Land" (A.Kh. Margulan Archeology Institute, Almaty; Toraigyrov University, Pavlodar).
