Leading researcher at the Department of Archaeology of the Era of Stone and Paleometal of the Institute of Archaeology named after A.Kh. Margulan CS MES RK.

Born February 25, 1948, Chandy, Beskaraigai district, Semipalatinsk region. In 1970, she graduated from the History Department of the Ust-Kamenogorsk Pedagogical Institute.

Since the 1970s, she took part and led the work of detachments in East Kazakhstan, Central Kazakhstan, Shulba, Semipalatinsk, Semirechensk, West Kazakhstan archaeological expeditions of the Institute. In 1997-1998, as deputy head of the Kazakh part of the expedition as part of the joint Kazakh-French archaeological expedition, she participated in excavations of mounds of early nomads, including mounds with permafrost on the Berel burial ground; in 2003, she took part in the work of the international Kazakh-German expedition to survey copper and tin ore deposits and settlements of metallurgists in East Kazakhstan and Pavlodar region. In 2004-2006, as the head of the Taldysai detachment, she took part in joint research of the Kazakh-Italian archaeological expedition on the settlement of ancient metallurgists near Jezkazgan, and subsequently, as the head of the Taldysai Settlement program of applied archaeological research, she led the Taldysai detachment in the Ulytau region. Currently, as the head and co-head of grant programs, she is engaged in archaeological research in the Bronze Age settlements of Taldysay Jezkazgan-Ulytau and Myrzhik of the North Betpakdala mining and metallurgical centers.

 

Scientific interests: metallurgy and metal production of the Bronze Age of Kazakhstan.

The objects of research by A.S. Yermolaeva are monuments of a wide chronological and territorial range, ranging from the Bronze Age to the Turkic time, including monuments of early nomads in the territory of Central, Eastern, Western Kazakhstan and Semirechye.

Author and co-author of more than 70 publications in scientific publications of Kazakhstan and abroad, including four collective and one personal monographs, as well as three album books.

She was awarded the badge of the Ministry of Education and Science "For Merits in the Development of Science in the Republic of Kazakhstan" in 2018.
