Nurzhanov Arnabai Abishevich

The senior scientific worker of the Institute of archeology after A.Kh.Margulan

 Born 12.06.1957 in the village Podgornoye of the Lugovskoi district of the Djambul region.

Graduated from the faculty of history of the Kazakh pedagogical institute after Abai (1978).

The candidate dissertation: “The medieval cities at the section of the Silk way from Taraz to Aspara” (2010). ThescientificleaderK.M.Baipakov.

The scientific interests: the medieval cities of Southern Kazakhstan and Zhetysu (the fortification of the ancient city sites, the topography, the issues of localization and chronology). The priority trends of archeology in which at the present time is actively engaged A.A.Nurzhanov is the genesis and development of the settled and city culture at the South and South-East of Kazakhstan. The evolution of the specific and general characteristics of the medieval city culture of Kazakhstan. Many times he made scientific reports at the international conferences and councils in Kazakhstan as well as abroad: in Moscow, Kazan, Kiev, St.-Petersburg, Ashkhabad, Izmir and Barcelona.    

The service activity: from 1980 to 1984 worked as head of the sector, secretary of the Alatau district committee of the Leninist communist union of the youth of Kazakhstan. From 1984 to 1988 worked as deputy director, director of the secondary professional school #7 in Alma-Ata. From 1988 to 1991 worked at the Institute of history and archeology after Ch.Ch.Ualikhanov, after that at the Institute of archeology of the Academy of sciences of the RK in the capacity of engineer, then junior scientific worker. From 1996 to 2002 worked as senior teacher at the Kainar university. From 2002 to 2004 – senior teacher at the chair of archeology and ethnology at the Kazakh national university after al-Farabi. From 2004 and up to the presen time – scientific worker, senior scientific worker, leading scientific worker at the Institute of arcgeology after A.Kh.Margulan.

The expedition activity: from 1988 the head of the team of the Southern-Kazakhstani archeological expedition, from 2010 – the head of the Zhetysu archeological expedition of the Institute of archeology after A.Kh.Margulan of the Ministry of education and science of the RK.
